Mechanical Keyboards are a black hole for your wallet

I started with a $50 Keychron. Now I'm looking at a $600 custom aluminium kit, hand-lubed switches (Lubriglide v4), and artisan keycaps that cost more than my first PC.

Is there an end to this? Does the perfect "thock" actually exist or is it just a myth we tell ourselves to justify the spending? My wife thinks I'm insane for having 5 boards on my desk. Help.

@ClickyClack_Lover Once you start lubing your own stabilizers, you’ve already crossed the event horizon. There is no escape. Embrace the thock. Btw, have you tried the new Nebula Linear switches yet? They come pre-filmed!

I just use a membrane keyboard from 2005. It’s quiet, it works, and I saved $2000 for a vacation. You guys are definitely in a cult. 🤷‍♂️
